Andra Day and Andi Matichak

Cassandra Monique Batie known professionally as Andra Day is an American R&B and soul performer, songwriter and actress. The Grammy Award, Children's and Family Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award are just a few of the many accolades she has earned. She was also considered for nominations to an Academy Award. Andra Day is an imposing musician and artist who isn't just a throwback R&B specialist her roots in gospel jazz and the blues that she sings with ease and grace are carried into today's music. Cheers to the Fall (2015) her eminent debut cracked the Top Ten of the R&B/hip-hop and helped her earn a handful of Grammy nominations, as well as an Academy Award nomination with Stand Up for Something (2017) her part in the music of Marshall getting both honors. Amen (2018) and the song Make Your Troubles go Away (2020) and the Golden Globe winning portrayal of Billie Holiday (The United States vs. Billie Holiday 2021) All of these have contributed to the anticipation of her next album. Andra day was born Cassandra Monique Batie, in Edmonds Washington. She grew in San Diego and the metropolitan area. There she sang at church, and then enrolled in The School of Creative and Performing Arts. She gravitated towards modern R&B as well as pop and jazz when she graduated from high school, but eventually was drawn back to classical soul singers and jazz that she had heard when she was young. Kai Millard Morris, who caught a live performance by Day and brought her music to Stevie Wonder's husband was the major achievement. The Motown legend then was able to connect Day with industry veteran Adrian Gurvitz. Day, allied by Gurvitz's Buskin label and Jeffrey Evans' Buskin record company, gained an online fan base. Records and began collaboration with Adrian Gourvitz, the producer on the album that she released as her debut, Cheers to the autumn (2015). The album included the song Rise Up which is now a global anthem of social justice movements. Day was nominated to win two Grammy Awards, including Best R&B Album. In the year 2019, she released her sophomore album The United States vs. Billie Holiday a concept album on the life of the famous jazz musician. That same year she starred in a biopic about Holiday's career, The United States vs. Billie Holiday (2021). Andi Matichak, a native of the United States is an American actress. She first appeared in the movie Halloween in the role of Allyson and was later seen in several television shows including Orange Is the New Black (Orange is the New Black) Park Avenue (666 Park Avenue (666 Park Avenue), Blue Bloods as well as Orange is the new black.
